Due to the global pandemic crisis, Livingstone has felt the fallout pretty badly. Whilst the virus has not made any inroads into our little town, border and airport closures, combined with the fact no one is traveling anywhere right now, has brought this region of the world to its knees.
Our only hope of survival is to slash our prices and hope that our fellow country men and women come down and visit us.
With that in mind, we have structured our pricing in such a way that, not only is it ridiculously cheap for our clients, but it also manages us to just about stay afloat and keep our staff in employment. That is all we can ask for at this point in time.
Here are our prices and packaged freebees.
For two nights accommodation:
- 2 adults – K5,000
- 3 adults – K6,000
- 4 adults – K7,000
- 5 adults – K8,000
- 6 adults – K9,000
- 7 adults – K9,500
- 8 adults – K10,000
- 2 night’s self catering accommodation
- 1 half day private game drive, including Rhino encounter and bush breakfast
- 1 private sunset cruise (cash bar or bring your own)
- 1 daily transfer (town/falls/airport) and back
- 3 20% discount restaurant vouchers (Zest, Zambezi Cafe, Waffle house)
Drinks are available at the lodge to purchase and we can provide braai packs at good prices (pre-order required). A maid and Laundry service comes with the price of your booking, as does Free WiFi and DSTV. There is also a pool, large grounds for hikes and mountain biking (bring your own bikes). We also have a great outdoor fire area where you can sit around a campfire in the evenings if you wish.
As we are perched up on a hill, a short walk to the end of the property you can get a great view of the Victoria Falls. At this time of year (June to September), you can hear them constantly rumbling away in the background. At night you may well hear the roaring of the local Makuni lions too.
Whilst Bongwe House is self-catering, there is a chef available to cook for you. His price is K100 per day which you pay to him directly (please let us know before you arrive if you would like his services). He is a good chef and usually accompanies us on our multi-day safaris into the Kafue. As times are slow at the moment, he has made himself available to guests in the house. All money paid to him is his to keep.
Just to reassure you, we sanitise the entire accommodation prior to and after every visit. All of our staff live on-site and have been isolating away from the hustle and bustle of the compounds and town itself. Also, you will be the only guests on the property so there will be no other groups to have to keep your distance from. This also applies to the game drive and sunset cruise.
If there are 8 of you, the house does have a large fourth bedroom but it is more of a dormitory than a bedroom (it used to be a yoga studio). Because this may not be ideal for some groups we have a large 2-bed walk-in safari tent available for two people. The tent is en-suite with a shower, toilet and hot running water. The beds have mosquito nets and there is electricity supply ensuring lighting, plugs etc. We actually have 10 of these tents and would usually sell the tents as well as the house and have multiple groups in at a time. But for now during these strange times, we have opted to only allow one group at a time.

- All children under 2 years stays free of charge in a baby cot. Children under 12 pay half price. Please note that we do not have baby cots on-site but can arrange for a travel cot at an additional cost)
